10 reviews for Yoga For Strength And Stability: Progressive yoga poses for senior fitness, Beginners and Beyond (Exercise books for seniors)

  1. Love to Read

    Yoga you can do!
Yoga has amazing healing potential. Developing strength, flexibility, and balance for everyday activities is so important, especially for seniors. This is something that can improve the quality of life. This book guides you through how to do it correctly—including physical and mindfulness. It is encouraging that even a short amount of yoga (even 10-15 minutes a day) can make a big difference. Routines are literally laid out so that you can just follow. I found this very helpful, and I highly recommend it!

‘Strength, flexibility, stability, balance’ – A thorough guide for using Yoga!
British certified fitness coach and author James Atkinson has published many valuable books on his advice for encouraging good health – including FITNESS & EXERCISE MOTIVATION, FITNESS FOR WOMEN OF ANY AGE, JIM’S WEIGHT TRAINING GUIDE, JIM’S WEIGHT TRAINING & BODY BUILDING WORKOUT PLAN, MARATHON TRAINING, TOTAL FITNESS FOR WHEELCHAIR USERS, HEALTH AND FITNESS TIPS THAT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE, HOME WORKOUT FOR BEGINNERS, HOME WORKOUT CIRCUIT TRAINING, RESISTANCE BAND TRAINING, BODYWEIGHT TRAINING AND CALISTHENICS, BAR & DUMBBELL TRAINING, 12 WEEK RESISTANCE BAND WORKOUT ROUTINE, CHAIR WORKOUTS FOR EVERY FITNESS LEVEL, QUICK WORKOUTS REAL RESULTS, and now YOGA FOR STRENGTH AND STBILITY He covers all the bases with actionable results! In this accessible, very successful guide, Jim focuses on yoga as a means of achieving the ‘mind and muscle’ connection. As he shares ‘During the evolution of my own fitness endeavours, I’ve seen increasing value in yoga training, almost to the point it is a necessity or, at worse, an extremely valuable tool that can be used to enhance other fitness goals.’ Before embarking on the actual training skills, he offers health tips and assistance in selecting the proper environment for initiating the ’exercises’ that follow. Each step of this entry into the use of yoga is accompanied by superb illustrations (and even animated forms accessible through scanning QR codes) that make the concepts easily to enforce, both as a mindfulness tool and as a way to develop flexibility, stability, strength and balance. This new book is especially valuable for seniors – a safe and comfortably accessible way to employ fitness improvement. Excellent!

A Wonderful Guide for Starting Your Yoga Journey
This book is an excellent resource for anyone starting their yoga journey, especially seniors. The author, James Atkinson, makes the practice approachable with clear, step-by-step instructions and a focus on safety and proper alignment. I found the ability to progress through different levels of poses to be very helpful, and the inclusion of animated descriptions via QR codes is a fantastic feature. This guide is a comprehensive and compassionate tool for building strength, stability, and confidence, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a practical and effective way to start practicing yoga.

    James with another helpful hit!
It never fails that James publishes a great book right when I need it. I’ve gone through and followed all of his books and they have all been extremely beneficial for me. I have been looking for something like this to help me with my flexibility and get better range of motion. Just when I need it here this is! I enjoy the writing style and how helpful these are. This does not disappoint. Get it!

Book is small I will be back to give my updated review
I should have done a better job seeing what size this book is. Its so small it shocked me. And that is on me. 78 pages of poses, and that includes 3 levels of each pose. Just be aware, I still need to give them a try

  6. J Finlay

A good read to keep next to your yoga mat!
I have been practicing yoga for about a year now and I have found that you never stop learning, you can always improve and it does not matter how far you can stretch, It only matters how far you can stretch! So it is beneficial for all ages and abilities. This book is very good and the advice and instruction is presented in a very simple way which makes it easy to understand. I especially like the QR code feature that allows you to see the animated exercises and the routine section where you can record your progress. A good read to keep next to your yoga mat!

  7. PRyder

I purchased this yoga book mainly to give me an insight into yoga and to give me the courage to join our local yoga class. As someone exploring the benefits of yoga later in life, I’m finding the book inspiring. It has a thoughtful approach to making yoga welcoming, safe, and effective for seniors is a blessing. The clear instructions, gentle encouragement is helping me feel confident as I began to practice. This book was written not just with expertise, but with great compassion.Thank you for creating.

  8. Gian cheema

Another great book and guide from James Atkinson. The advice is well researched, presented and flows from a place of realism. What stands out is the conversational tone, as if you are there James talking you through how to perform each movement and why. Great job!

  9. Siobhan Lynch

As an introduction to yoga, I found this to be a great guide. Although this yoga book doesn’t really lean into the spiritual side of yoga (to be fair, this is stated early on), it’s a solid start to the physical side. Breaking the yoga poses down into “levels” is a nice touch this allows you to build on each pose through workouts. It’s a well put together guide for those just starting out.

  10. PullenJon

Using this as a guide on it’s own, but this yoga book fits nicely into the series from this author. Detailed pictures and written prompts of poses in a step by step format and the option to build your own routine. There’s a fairly big emphasis on “Starting positions” and “alignment” that I found very useful. Each yoga pose has a QR code to scan that shows the full movement which was also helpful.
