The Girl on the Left is for anyone who has ever looked back at an old photo and thought: Damn, I barely recognize her. It’s for the dreamers, the late bloomers, the ones who were overlooked, underestimated, or written off but refused to stay that way. This anthology is a raw, unfiltered celebration of growth, resilience, and the wild, messy journey of becoming.
Inside these pages, you’ll find real stories from women who have faced heartbreak, doubt, and moments that should have broken them. Instead, they rose. They got louder, bolder, and more unapologetically themselves. These aren’t just stories of transformation. They are love letters to the girls we used to be, the ones who carried us here, and the ones we are still becoming.
As you read, you’ll uncover:How to embrace the evolution of who you are (without shaming where you started)Ways to own your personal story and rewrite the narrativeThe power of self-acceptance, even when the world tells you otherwiseLessons in resilience, self-worth, and courage from real women who’ve been thereThe Girl on the Left is a tribute to every version of you, past, present, and future. Join the voices of incredible women who dared to step into their power, rewrite their stories, and embrace every version of themselves along the way.
Because the girl on the left? She was never lost. She was just getting started.

Never Forget Where You Came From!!!
Megan was very transparent and vulnerable as she shared in depth the challenges she faced during her akward teen years. As if being a teen was not stressful enough, Megan embraced full on the challenges and built the resilience to battle a condition called polysystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). Weight gain and facial hair, as a young woman, did not boost her self confidence at all! I love how she celebrates who she used to be even if it is not the picture perfect image of who she is today. All these women, with their incredible stories of enduring hardship and obstacles in life, have clearly turned potentially stumbling blocks into stepping stones. They don’t forget where they came from and they learn and use the wisdom from their past to propel them into their future selves. As you read these stories you will be able to reflect and appreciate your past self, and realize the power of self acceptance when the world is screaming the opposite to you. You will learn about lessons of resilience, self-worth, and courage seeing through the eyes of real women experiencing real challenges in their lives. These women have successfully made it to the other side, and share the wisdom and knowledge they learned along the way! Highly inspirational and encouraging! Highly recommend! Carmen K. Maendel

Every Woman Will See Herself in These Pages
As one of the contributors to The Girl on the Left, I thought I knew what to expect. I was wrong.Reading through the other chapters, I was blown away by the honesty, vulnerability, and sheer power of the stories these women shared. Their words are raw, relatable, and deeply human—each one offering a different lens into transformation, resilience, and finding your voice again after life shakes you.Even though I wrote one of the chapters, I found myself highlighting passages from the others, nodding along, tearing up, and thinking, me too. This isn’t just a book—it’s a mirror, a lifeline, and a celebration of the quiet (and not-so-quiet) strength women carry. The Girl on the Left isn’t someone to leave behind—she’s the reason we made it to where we are now. She deserves to be honored.

    Voices of Resilience
Reading The Girl on the Left was like stepping into a room full of brave, resilient women—each holding a piece of my story in their hands. This book is a powerful collaboration of 22 courageous voices who chose to speak up about what it means to grow through what you go through. Each chapter brought a different perspective, a different battle, and a different breakthrough—but all carried the same heartbeat: hope. These women don’t just tell their stories—they invite you into them. They talk about the shame, the setbacks, the survival moments—and how they found healing, purpose, and strength on the other side. Whether it’s navigating trauma, loss, motherhood, faith, finances, or simply rediscovering identity, there’s something in these pages for every woman who has ever felt overlooked, overwhelmed, or underestimated. What struck me the most is that The Girl on the Left isn’t just about where you’ve been—it’s about who you’re becoming. It’s about moving from brokenness to boldness, from pain to power. If you’ve ever felt like life knocked you down one too many times, this book is your reminder: you’re not alone, and you don’t have to stay there. These women turned their wounds into wisdom—and through their words, you’ll find the courage to do the same.

    Take what you like
I listened to this on Audible. Interesting shares, even if I couldn’t relate to every situation I could relate to every woman’s feelings. This was at my pivotal point of wanting to get help so very grateful!

This book is not only an anthology, it is awe inspiring. The way that the authors were meticulously chosen comes through loud and clear. Each story has an inspiring lesson for the reader to pick up. My favourite was Florianne’s chapter. She was on a long road and she didn’t even know it until years later. THEN, once it came into her awareness she was on a mission for herself. To help herself heal, to learn all she could about what happened to her. Being a doctor, is even more eye opening as even she was unaware…. but then, look out, she became the fire that purged the over growth, the weeds that stifle and prevent beauty. She became the inspiration that so many look for. Here is just one powerful story in 21 others. Definitely worth the hard copy to give to other women that have inspired you, or to women to know that they are not alone and that they too can rise up like phoenix’s no matter how long it has been.
