Where there are gods, there are also monsters…
A thousand years ago, Dianna gave up her life in the deserts of Eoria to save her dying sister. She called upon anyone who would listen, not expecting a monster far worse than any nightmare to answer. Now she does what Kaden asks, even if that means securing an ancient relic from the very creatures that hunt her.
In the old world his name was Samkiel. In the new world it is Liam, but one title remains true throughout time. He is the World Ender, a myth to his enemies, a savior and King to those loyal to him. After the Gods War, he locked himself away, hiding from the world. He denied his crown and responsibilities, leaving the very ones who needed him most to deal with the fallout of the death of their homeworld. Now an attack on those he holds dear sends him back to the one realm he never wished to visit again and into the sights of an enemy he thought imprisoned eons ago.
Now enemies older than time must put aside their differences and work together in hopes of saving both their world and every realm in between.

Top Fantasy Read of 2022 so far
This book 1000% exceeded my expectations. From the moment it started, I was thrown into a world with endless possibilities. I was introduced to many creatures and different worlds. This book is full of action, romance, and earth shattering moments.I was completely immersed in the story and found myself feeling anxious, surprised, upset, and angry while reading. There were also a few aww moments sprinkled in. The author’s writing easily allowed me to visualize everything that I was reading. I never wanted to put this book down.”Kaden. My maker, my lover, and the only reason my sister lived. She was why I did every single thing he asked.”From the beginning we’re introduced to a character that is rough around the edges. She is a badass Ig’Morruthen with only one care in the world; her sister Gabby. Dianna’s undying love for her sister resonated with me. She sacrificed her life for her sister and didn’t think twice about it. She accepted that her life would become a life of servitude and she was okay with it. She did what she had to to keep her sister safe.”I understood that she cared for her sister, but who cared for her?”This book is slow burn and enemies to lovers to the max. Holy hell. The banter between the two main characters is hysterical. Dianna is witty, sarcastic, and a lot to handle at times. Liam started off as cold, and calculating but as the story begins to unfold we get to see why he is the way he is. The character development of just him alone is exceptional. I loved reading the different dynamics of their relationship and watching it morph into something different.”I didnt remember how long we talked, but somewhere amidst her laughter and smiles, I decided I would rip the world apart for her.”The tension in this book is captivating and infuriating. The reader gets both points of view (which I love). We get to see the internal struggle both of the characters face regarding their feelings for one another. What started as a blood deal transpired into something totally different. Something beautiful.I cannot write enough good things about this book. I know the page count is a commitment but it is so worth it. This book easily made its way into one of my top 5 books of all time. Liam and Dianna will stay with me for quite some time. I am anticipating the second book in the series and hate that I have to wait for it!I was provided with this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Spectacular
Honestly, shame on me for putting off starting this series for so long. I’ve owned the books for months now and if I hadn’t kept pushing this down my TBR I could’ve been so much further in this series—ANYWAY!The Book of Azrael is so much fun. To be honest, I thought I was going to DNF this at first. The pacing in the beginning was slow, and the paperback copy’s formatting made me feel like it was a super daunting book. I decided to snag the audiobook and immersion read—this was absolutely the best choice for me. I loved the narrator and found her wit, cadence, and personality she brought to each character to be fun to listen to. Reading it with my eyes helped me keep track of things better, especially the difficult-to-pronounce-and-retain names of people and places.Dianna and Samkiel literally invented longing and angst!! This is the first time I’ve read an enemies to lovers romantasy that I have absolutely zero notes about the execution of it. Amber V. Nicole’s writing is witty, the stakes made sense, and the enemies aspect was never in a place where I felt like it would be difficult to come back from. When they put together their minds and special abilities they become a truly unstoppable force, which makes the passion they feel for one another that much stronger. I really enjoyed their banter, the way they softened for one another, and the way they leaned on one another.I feel like the pacing was wonky sometimes. Like I said, the beginning was slow for me (which was odd because it literally begins in an action scene), and I almost DNFd. But there was a point about 30% from the end of the novel where I felt like the pacing started to stall again. That feeling was short-lived because it really starts to pop off from there, but it was something I noticed nonetheless. Also, I really have a hard time when supernatural beings don’t operate on gut feelings???? While I do think being fueled by your emotions is realistic, these are otherworldly beings who, in theory, shouldn’t be caught up in human emotions such as anger. Rage-fueled MCs in fantasies are always a good time, but it also gets to a point where it’s like damn, maybe y’all wouldn’t keep getting outwitted and thwarted if you listened to your intuition?!The side characters were entertaining and unique and the villain was so believably bad. Like, I am scaredddd of him, honey! I can’t wait to see what happens as a response to the ending in the next book! The world building was vast and I actually kind of got lost but I ended up really enjoying it in the end because it allowed me to feel like the world was expanding with the characters.I don’t know if I’m just excited because I always get an adrenaline rush if cliff hangers are well done in fantasy books, but I feel like this might be one of my favorite romantasy books of all time. I will be taking my time getting through the series in the following months and trying my best not to obsess over fanart.4.5 ⭐️s1.5 🌶️

this is the epitome of slow burn, enemies to lovers. what a badass fmc, she is breathtaking! I couldn’t stop reading, the plot is chef’s kiss. and the cliffhanger kills. the pace is also perfect, I didn’t live in a book like this since Fourth Wing.

I was completely gripped from start to finish. The world building was so well done. The characters are so well thought out and brought to life. The plot has so many twists and turns and to say I was completely shocked by the ending was an understatement. I so enjoyed the enemies to lovers trope in this Dianna and Liam are truly enemies, they despise each other but the more time they’re forced to spend together, getting to know each other, the more they start to fall. I’m fully obsessed with this world and these characters! I need to know what happens next after that cliffhanger!
