Works Great!
We love this poaching pan! We chose it partly because it has a metal handle. Our last pan handle was made of a black material that overheated and cracked after several years. We are impressed with the heaviness of this pan and the egg cups that are bigger than those of the old pan. We used to be limited to cooking medium-large eggs and can now poach extra large and jumbo. We smear a small amount of butter on the cups before adding the eggs, and the eggs slip out when cooked by just inverting the cups. I believe we have been turning out the best poached eggs ever with this new pan. It is really nice looking too.

Great Purchase
I read so many comments about so many different egg poachers. I really appreciated those comments. This egg poacher is great. The pan appears to be a good pan. It has some weight to it with a nice bottom. The handle stays cool. I agree with others that it is a shame that the lid handle gets a little hot. Use a potholder. I wasn’t sure how to remove the insert so I could get to the egg cups. Some people commented that the cups might not hold large eggs. Here’s what I did the first time. I mixed, in four separate small bowls, 1 large egg and 1 T milk and whisked. Then I added half a stick of string cheese cut into cubes. I put less than a 1 t butter in each egg cup. Put the lid on and let the water come to a boil. Then I poured each bowl of the egg, milk and cheese mixture into the heated cups. Put the lid on and reduced the heat to medium low. After eight minutes, I turned off the heat, and I used a fork to lift the insert out of the pan. It felt very secure. I set the insert on my heat pad on my counter. That made the insert fall and the cups were easier to grab with a pot holder. The puffy eggs slid right out. In fact, by the time I got to the third and fourth eggs, I didn’t need the pot holder. This was so incredibly easy! This was also a very pretty puffy egg dish. The cups held the large egg with the milk and cheese without spilling. Perfect! I hope this helps other folks, who may have tried to lift the cups out of the insert while the insert was still in the pan.

Love This Poacher
Got this yesterday. One of the first things I did when I opened the box was to carefully examine all parts. The cup holder is not a flimsy stamped piece of metal that you can cut your fingers on.All edges are nicely finished and polished. The metal cup rings will separate from the cups with a little pressure, if needed for washing or use with a certain recipe. The cook pan is built like a tank and rivals my All-Clad cookware. The glass top is bound with a stainless rim.The knob on top is stainless and there is a stainless button that permits the exhaust of steam. The bottom of the pot has the makers name stamped in and there is a small tag that states that it was made in Indonesia.(Scrape the tag off prior to applying heat)Altogether I am very satisfied with the build quality of this utensil.Although the manufacturer claims this to be dishwasher safe, I’ll probably wash mine in the sink after my second cup of coffee. This way it will be all prepped for the next mornings breakfast. One of the things I was concerned about prior to purchase, was the cup size.I live in a rural area and get my jumbo eggs fresh from the farm.No worries. Took a jumbo egg with no problem.Put a pat of butter in each cup prior to the eggs and drop the eggs in after the butter has melted.Mine took four and a half minutes.I put a paper plate on the counter next to the stove. Lift the center section out with a fork and set it on the plate when the eggs are done. The cups raise up when you set the center section down. Now they can be picked up by their little handles without danger of steaming your fingers. One more thing:If you do decide that you are going to order this, do yourself a favor. Go out and get those gourmet English muffins in the refrigerated section of your grocery store and have a really great breakfast.

Knob of the lid traps steam and holds it.
Poaches eggs great. Steam becomes trapped under the knob of the lid producing condensation and water. To remove the retained water you have to unscrew the knob. The lid could have been better designed for the price of the pot.

Poached eggs again!
I’ve had this egg poacher for a little over 2 years now. I love it. It’s nice, heavy, food grade stainless steel, with non-stick coating in the cups, but I always use a little butter in the cups to make sure the eggs don’t stick. It says it’s dishwasher safe, but I only hand wash it, and it still looks brand new after 2 years of use.It was a little tough to spend the money up front, but once I got the poacher I was not sorry. If you love poached eggs, you’ll love this egg poacher. It’s a quality piece of cookware.

Demeyere 4-Cup Egg Cooker/Poacher
I own this pan and is used 3-4 times a week. Absolutely money well spent. I wipe a bit of butter into the cups, let the water come to a boil on a couple of clicks below high and steam for 4 minutes. Large eggs come out with the whites soft but cooked thru with the yolks having just a minor stiff edge. 1,2,3,4 All come out the same. Now the technical – (first and foremost is that this is a device that works by steam) the top knob on mine does not get even remotely hot but the glass does. The knob on the lid does hold water so I will disassemble and seal the knob, two minutes and problem solved. You must avoid the steam hole in the top for obvious reasons. Steam is hot and will burn you very quickly. The cups are heavy duty metal and eggs slide right out. Cleanup is a breeze. The bottom is thick and looks like it will stay flat forever. Put it in the dishwasher, you can’t hurt it. It’s make out of steel. It only takes two minutes to rinse under hot water to clean it. I would love to try some other style pans by this manufacturer. The holding tray has holes so again be aware of steam. A paper towel to protect your fingers when picking up the cup is all that’s needed. Cups are coated with a Teflon formulation. It is totally tasteless and odorless but if you are Teflon phobic be aware. Lastly, it’s a great pan.
